*AUTHOR’S NOTE*

Have you ever just heard a song, and suddenly you have images floating through your head as you follow the storyline? Well, that’s what happened to me when I first listened to the song Either Side from the 2007 Fool’s Banquet. And the images refused to go away. So, I decided to write them down, and this story is the result.

Basically, it’s about how distance can grow between two people…mentally, physically, and spiritually. How you can share your existence with a person and yet they are so far out of your reach, you feel like you’ll never be able to touch them. How you can go from being closer than imaginable to being complete strangers.

It’s a sad thing to think about, but unfortunately, it happens. But there is a way to fix it…it just depends on how much effort you want to exert.

This is my first ever songfic. My husband, who read just a bit of it when I first began writing, described it simply as “Oh, so you’re basically coming up with an idea for a music video for the song?”. That wasn’t my intentions, but, I guess that it could be looked at that way. Although, I tend to see it more as maybe the motives behind writing such a song.

Anyway, this story may do absolutely nothing for you, or it may just strike a chord somewhere deep within. And remember, if you ever want to make a change in your life, you will have to take the first step. Nobody else can do it for you.
